Meet Nicholas Norris

This week we are featuring attorney and shareholder Nicholas A. Norris. Nicholas is an experienced estate planning attorney with deep roots in Wyoming. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Oversized Heart Foundation, Inc. He is a Rotarian through the Rotary Club of Cheyenne.
1. Why do you continue to practice law? What do you enjoy about what you do?
Two things stand out to me:
1) First and foremost, it is my relationships with clients.
2) Being a good lawyer often just boils down to being a good problem solver, and I get a lot of satisfaction out of solving problems.
As an attorney, I get to know people and their families very well. I create environments where my clients can be open and honest with me about things that are deeply personal. They share their fears and challenges as well as their hopes and ambitions. I know their struggles and witness their joys and successes. Those relationships are very valuable to me.
2. What is your favorite weekend activity?
The short answer is hunting and fishing. Through hunting and fishing, I get to do something hard with people I love. The adventure of not knowing what we might see around the next bend or catch on the next cast. Seeing and experiencing the joy and relief of a hard-won success, being dog-tired and satisfied with the effort, reflecting on a tough day around a campfire, watching my dogs do the thing they love. Just spending time with my family and reliving those moments when you tell the stories over and again...those are the things that make hunting and fishing my favorite activities.
3. What is one of your favorite places in Wyoming?
I am not sure if it has a name, but my dogs can usually find chukar partridge there.
4. What is one thing you wish clients knew about the law?
That, "It depends." It takes a lot of time and effort getting to know a person and the circumstances they are facing before an attorney can give competent advice. It might seem annoying when attorneys answer a seemingly simple question with: "It depends." But it really does. That is why we spend so much time with our clients, and also stay up to date on the latest cases and legislation. At the end of the day, we want to help you solve your problems effectively.
5. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A bird dog. A bird dog's default is happy, loving, and excited to be alive. Plus, I would still get to hunt.
