Aging Parent Checklist

Having aging parents can be scary. But there are a lot of things you can do preemptively to prepare for death or incapacity, including locating these key documents

  • Powers of Attorney

    • General Durable Power of Attorney

    • Healthcare Power of Attorney

    Things to find out:

    • Is it effective immediately or effective upon capacity?

    • When do you have the ability to start acting?

    • Is someone else listed after the spouse?

  • Long-Term Care Policy

  • Veteran Benefits

  • Funeral Trusts

  • List of Assets

  • Monthly Income

  • Monthly Debts

  • Estate Planning Attorney Name & Contact Info

    • Set up a transition planning appointment if possible
